Compassion LAB FOR INDIVIDUALS
Wednesday 26 February 2025, naarm/Melbourne
Compassion Labs give people the chance to slow down and learn practical skills to reduce stress and embed compassion.
Keen to experience a Compassion Lab but your organisation isn’t running them right now?
We’ve got you.
We hold in-person and online Labs outside of organisations and we’d love to have you there.
Why do we run Compassion Labs?
There will always be a state of flux and change, and in these times we can easily become dysregulated and anxious. We know that you need time to take a breath and focus on what you need first before you can help others. If you are feeling a sense of overwhelm, a Compassion Lab is a perfect place to begin to reset, offer yourself some compassion, build connection, and re-commit to compassionate action.
“I arrived at the Lab feeling tired and overwhelmed, and left feeling calm and inspired. Thank you.”
Is a Compassion Lab right for me?
If you are someone who is committed to compassionate care and you need a chance to slow down, learn how to reduce stress, connect with like-minded folks and activate the latest research about how outcomes are improved by compassionate cultures, then the answer is yes.
Compassion Labs expand what is possible for compassionate care.
“This training was different in that it was self-focused; recognising that we are not the sum of our clinical skills but human beings. And that to give great care, we have to have the tools to look after ourselves.”
How many people in a Lab?
Between 12—26 people make up a Compassion Lab. You can expect to be with like-minded people who are interested in learning how to put their own oxygen masks on before helping others. There will be plenty of space for laughter and connection.
What’s included in a Lab?
Each Compassion Lab is different but the practice of compassion is at the heart of all we do. And it’s all anchored in research.
You can expect a Compassion Lab to include learning in the following areas:
- understanding how the mind and body work in stressful situations
- regulating our emotions
- understanding the difference between and the impact of sympathy, empathy, and compassion
- managing the voice of self criticism, and harnessing the power of self-compassion
- handling difficult conversations
- enlisting mindfulness
- experiencing generosity.
You will learn more about neuroscience, enjoy a little space for creativity and connection, and discover how your body and your brain work to influence each other.
You will also practise new skills to take into your life and work environment, and you will meet awesome humans, who like you, are values driven and committed to compassionate action.
What’s the time commitment?
Compassion Labs are offered in two formats: in person from 9am—4pm in a venue or online—135 minutes each week for three weeks.
What practical tools will I get?
Learning is an activity, but embedding compassion takes practice. At the Compassion Lab we ensure that our participants embody the learning through short mindfulness sessions, body movement and practical discussions about how to embed compassion.
You will leave with a number of beautiful skills and tools to help you continue in your journey.
Keen to talk more?
We’d love to introduce ourselves and talk practicalities.
